ANIMATED
ICONS

Design an animated icon set representing various dietary preferences and common food allergens. The icons needed to be clear, cohesive, and visually accessible—while maintaining a friendly, modern aesthetic. Limited software capability at the time posed an extra creative challenge.
-
With After Effects off the table due to hardware limitations, I animated each icon frame-by-frame in Photoshop. This approach, though more time-intensive, gave the icons a slightly quirky, hand-crafted feel. I established a consistent line weight and a unified color scheme to ensure the set felt cohesive across all twelve icons, regardless of the dietary category they represented.

The final icon set is both functional and full of personality. Despite the unconventional animation method, the result is a charming and approachable collection of motion graphics that communicate key dietary information at a glance. The consistency in style and color allows them to work seamlessly as a system, while the hand-animated detail adds an extra layer of uniqueness.
